General

How often should I drink it?

Doctor’s Biome is a food rather than a supplement, so there is no dose and no schedule to follow. It is a two ounce shot of cold-pressed juice carrying fifteen strains of living cultures, and you can have it any time you would eat. It is made to sit inside a healthy diet, not on top of one.

Can I take it with other medications?

We recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before adding a new probiotic to your routine, especially if you’re taking immunosuppressant or steroid medications.

Is it safe to take if pregnant?

Doctor’s Biome is a juice beverage with live cultures, and many people include probiotics in their routine during pregnancy. That said, pregnancy is exactly when you should check with your physician before adding anything new. Please talk to yours first.

Should I take probiotics with antibiotics?

Some people choose to keep probiotics in their routine during and after a course of antibiotics. It is a personal choice. Talk to your doctor about what’s right for you.

My order arrived warm. Is it still good?

Your order ships cold, with ice packs, to keep it at its best in transit. If it arrives feeling less than cold, that’s normal for shipping. Just refrigerate it when it arrives. We recommend keeping Doctor’s Biome refrigerated.

When and how should I take it?

Like any food, there’s no dose and no schedule. You drink it when you want it. Cold, straight out of the fridge, is when it tastes best.

Whether timing matters at all is a real question, and the honest answer is that the advice contradicts itself. We wrote out what the research actually says, and what it doesn’t.

Is there a right time to take probiotics?

Can I travel with it?

Yes, provided it stays cold the whole way. We recommend keeping Doctor’s Biome refrigerated, and travelling with it is no different from travelling with anything else that lives in a fridge.

It is a food rather than a bottle of pills, so if you are crossing a border, check what the country you are going to allows you to bring in.

How long does it keep?

It is alive, so it does not sit still. Kept cold, the cultures carry on working, which means the taste moves away from how we made it and the colour can shift with it.

Nothing has gone wrong. A living product changes because it is living, which is the whole reason it is worth making. The flavour is where we aimed it early on, so that is when we would drink it.

Why is it so expensive?

Four things, and the last one is the one people do not expect.

The cultures are specialized, semi-rare and expensive. The juice is cold-pressed organic juice. Shipping cold runs about five times what shipping ambient costs. It has to be made in small batches, in a facility that is not making fifty other things at the same time.

And it is bottled one dose at a time, which is the expensive way to do it. A thirty day bottle would be far cheaper to make and to ship. It is also not an option: every time that bottle was opened and closed you would let something new in, and in a living product that something can grow.

Why don't you sell a smaller pack?

Doctor’s Biome is a food, not a course of treatment, so there is nothing you have to finish. The pack size is about the cold chain. Every order leaves in an insulated box with ice packs, and most of that cost sits in the box rather than in the bottles inside it. A week’s worth would cost almost as much to ship as a month’s, so a smaller pack would mean paying more per bottle for less product. Thirty is where the shipping stops setting the price.
